What this blog is all about...

What this blog is all about..

Cloth Diapering.. obviously! I've been a fan of CDing since I've read about how much I could save money & the environment by using them. Now that I've started using them, there's no turning back! And I hope from this blog (however crazy it sounds) - if it doesn't make you want to CD your child, will at least help raise awareness on the benefits of CDing.. Enjoy!

Considering CDs?

If you feel like CDing your child, there are a few things you'll have to consider. Here are some, in no order of importance:

  1. You must REALLY, REALLY have the drive to do so. Commitment & perseverance is the key to SUCCESS.
  2. If you could have at least 1 person to support your decision, it will be better. Even better if this person is your spouse.
  3. Read, read & read- all about CDs, CDing, people's experience with CDs etc to see if it suits you & your child.
  4. Consider the budget: It's such a shame that in Malaysia especially, going green can be quite a task. Not only you have to go an extra mile to do so, but you also need to spend quite a lot of money on it. If you're considering CDing, you'll have to standby around RM1k to start off with... Well, you can actually make it cheaper (it depends on your CDing style- the type of CDs you like, the amount of CDs you need depending on your washing days etc). You can cut cost by buying used CDs or exchanging them online. A little mix & match (be a bit creative la..) can also save lotsa money.
  5. Who's gonna wash them & how often are you gonna wash?
    • CDs need a special kinda detergent- shouldn't be a problem to get from large baby stores/ online, need not much to use each time (even just water & sun could do the trick!)
    • if you wash daily (you'll get a bit tired maybe, but...) you wouldn't need too many CDs
    • if you wash every 2-3 days, you'll need a lot more CDs
    • CDs also need a lil special care (a 'ritual' before starting to use them/ stripping (nope, not that kinda stripping ;-) )
That's all i could think of for now.. i'll add more when the time comes..

Anyhow, please don't get turned off by the questions posed. If you want to CD, go on with it. Remember all the GOOD things about CDing like it's less toxic to yor child, it saves cost in the long run, you're doing good for the environment, you're getting yourself another hobby (& you still get to shop!) & your child will look cute in it.

Happy Cloth Diapering!
